Framing the Building |
|
The building frame was done with pressure treated yellow pine, relatively inexpensive and easy to work with. The
main problem with this material is its water content on delivery. The typical pressure treated 2X4 can weigh as much
as 5 times the dry weight making lifting the finished wall a two man job. Luckily, my helpers were never far away.

Water Break |

Nothing like a big glass of rasberry tea! |
The July heat was tolerable as long as there was something cold to drink. Here the frame walls are finished and
an iced tea break enjoyed before the next step. If you look closely, you will note 4X4 posts on each corner. This
is a little overkill but the walls can support much, much more weight than will ever be required of them.

Grandad's Two Junior Helpers |

My grandaughters, Andrea and Victoria, were really getting into the construction and could not wait to help.

Anchoring the Walls |
|
All four walls were firmly anchored with a "Ramset" gun using a .22 cal blank to drive the 2.5" spike deep into the concrete.
I hazard to say it will take a very strong wind to move the building, probably breaking the lumber before it actually gives
way.
